Botanik represents a fresh new impulse to create clothing that is inspired, comfortable and ticks all the boxes when it comes to ethical production and sustainability.

What does that mean? We’re glad you asked…

Inspired by nature. Protecting the future…

“When I set out to create Botanik I knew that I did not want to create just another product for consumption, no matter how nice it might be.

It had to justify the resources that were going to be used in its creation and it had to represent an alternative option to other high-end clothing out there as part of the fast-fashion problem.”

Here’s what we’ve done:

The Fabric

Our clothing is made from 100% linen, one of the most inherently sustainable natural fibres that you can choose. This is because the flax plant is naturally hardy and does not require intensive irrigation or chemical management to thrive. It can also be grown in poor soil that is not suitable for food production.

The Colour

Our unique, artist-designed prints are created using natural plant dyes that will not adversely impact the waterways and impact the health and safety of workers. Our colours are ethically sourced and GOTS (global organic textile standards) certified. It took some time to ensure that our colours were not only going to be right, but they would be durable and colourfast as well. It wasn’t easy but we did it!

Production

Finding the right partners to bring the Botanik vision to life was important. Fortunately, we were able to find manufacturing in India that ticked all the right boxes. Not only do they hold GOTS certification for ecology and social responsibility, but they are also running independent programs to support education and upskilling communities and to support independence and a way out of poverty.

“The quality of the fabric is so soft and natural. Every piece I have is so comfortable and I love the fact that all the prints were designed by an artist.”
